I added two new services to the Mossel Bay Mesh Network in the past two days:
- Mossel Bay Weather Station Channel
The Mossel Bay Weather Station Channel is available on the Mesh Network when you open Mumble. Click the link Mumble Voice Chat Server on the ZS1I-4 Mesh Status Page under Services. Now join the MsbMesh WX Station Channel by clicking on the MsbMesh WX Station Channel. The weather is broadcast every 15 minutes on this channel. The following weather information is send over the mesh network:
Weather information is automatically updated.
This service allow for any local weather station information to be broadcasted on the Mesh Network even if there is no Internet connection. This will be most useful during emergencies, disasters or severe weather events.
- Echolink Streaming Audio Channel
The Echolink Streaming Audi Channel is available on the Mesh Network when you open Mumble. Click the link Mumble Voice Chat Server on the ZS1I-4 Mesh Status Page under Services. Now join the MsbMesh Echolink Channel by clicking on the MsbMesh Echolink Channel. Echolink audio is broadcast on this channel over the Mossel Bay Mesh Network if and when there is activity. Echolink allows worldwide connections to be made between stations, or from computer to station, greatly enhancing Amateur Radio’s emergency and general communications capabilities. This service will not work in the event that there is no Internet connectivity. There are more than 200,000 validated users worldwide — in 151 of the world’s 193 nations — with about 6,000 online at any given time. In the event of no Internet connectivity we use Mumble Voice Chat Server on the Mossel Bay Mesh Network to communicate via the mesh in the Mossel Bay area.
Two great services now available to all Mossel Bay Mesh Network users.
Lookout for future services to be added to the Mossel Bay Mesh Network. Enjoy!
